School 17 Reviews

Not the best or safest school. The lack of funding (so common in NY and Yonkers) shows. The principal and teachers are nice, but you have to keep your eyes open and really talk to other parents and your child to know what is going on in the class and make sure everything is ok with child. There was almost no homework in K, which caused some problems when we transferred to NJ school- my child was behind kids in NJ s 1st grade even though she was doing great in K in Yonkers school. I m glad we re in NJ now and out of this school.

School 17 is a very nice school. The principal is very active with the parents to resolve issues. You can always get a hold of Ms. Morehead because she cares. This is very refreshing in today's time. My child is in the 4th grade and although academically my child does well, I believe that there has been a huge focus on the standardized testing and I don't believe there is a well rounded education format. When the ELA was coming it was all English homework, math test was all math homework, now its all about the science test coming up. I just find that there is a lack of reinforcing what the kids have learned earlier in the year because once the standardized test is completed thats it for that subject. My child has not brought home ANY math homework since the standardized test was completed.

The best school ever.

I think the principal of this school is the best. This is the first school where I know my children are going to be all right. It's like leaving them with family, more principals should be like Mrs. Moorehead. She's not just their principal, she's a friend, a mother, a grandmother.
