Virginia Road Elementary School Reviews

My daughter is going into 2nd grade this year. She loves going to school. We all love the teachers and administration. My only complaint so far is the amount of supplies we are asked to bring in each year...it's a bit over the top and wasteful.

My son was in 2nd grade this year. In September we moved from the Bronx where he attended a Christian private school with very small classes from 3 years old. I was concerned about his transition to a non-private school. He had a great year. His teacher was extremely creative and supportive. The activities were well thought out and made him enjoy learning. He didn't dread going to school.

My daughter, now a 1st grader at another school attended VRES for kindergarden. Coming off a wonderful full day pre-k program, it was the worst experience ever. She learned more in pre-k than in kindergarden at this school. The class sizes are large, everything is hectic and hurried, even holiday parties are rushed. The administration has an 'open door policy', so it says, but you are always made to feel like you are intruding or are not worth attending to. I couldn't wait to pull my daughter out at the end of the year and send her back to her former private school. With all of that said, I have heard wonderful things about the 3-5 school and have a son graduating from VHS this year and they have been great. Same school district, worlds apart, go figure...

We have two children at VRES grade 2 & K in 2004-2005. We would like to thank you for all the teachers and the staffs. Excellent School. Our kids really enjoy learning and activities.

Both my sons went to this wonderful school. The staff is fantastic. My boys especially enjoyed lunchtime, the kitchen staff is led by Mary 'Da Mayor' Gilbert who is every childs favorite 'lunch lady' she holds a special place in the children's heart, solving problems like lost money, and always giving 'seconds' to hungry children. Thank you Mary! Shout out to Randy the custodian and Sue, who works in the kitchen also. A great school!

My first born son, now 9, attended VRES K-2. Without a single doubt VRES provides an absolutely incredible environment for learning and growth! Every teacher he had (most young, and women) were caring, attentive, knowledgeable, and dedicated to there career. As well the pricipal, a phenomenal lady, is beyond approachable and absolutely wonderful! She takes a personal interest in her students and her staff which is very apparent. As previously stated in other reviews, safety for the well being of the children is paramount with all staff members actively involved. This holds true for much of this district. I cannot wait for my four year old to be attending in 2006.

Our daughter will be in 2nd grade at VRES for the 2003/2004 year. In kindergarten, she had a teacher who was new to the system. In 1st grade, she had a veteran teacher (25+ years). Both of them proved to be knowledgeable, caring individuals with a passion for teaching. They made learning fun and well prepared our daughter for the higher grades. We are anticipating our son (currently entering Pre-k)attending VRES without reservation. A credit to the teaching staff is the amount of work covered in each school year. Additionally, safety and security were paramount in the school and strict rules are evident. The school was always immaculate and the staff was always helpful and caring.
