P.S. 19 Judith K Weiss Reviews

So far 2008 has been great. Actually, I see alot of improvements and great potential for even better times. I was very nervous about the changes in Administration but I am so far very pleased and excited for our children's future at PS 19. The heart and soul of the Administration, staff, parents and children seem to be in it to succeed. You cannot ask for a better team then that.

have you notices there is only one bad review, come on this is one of the best NYC public schools there is. the teachers actually care, the principle is always understanding and strict in the same way. I would like for you to find a NYC public school that would even compare to PS19. this is a great school discard the bad review. this person obviously isn't involved enough with there child's education, and has this clouded idea about this school.

My son has just started PS19 (5th grade) after being in a 'private' school. He's adjusting well and I am finding that the education is, at the very least, on par, possibly above. His interest in school has grown again thanks to fabulous teachers. As far as the post of May 2007, I feel that when someone states 'test scores aside' means there are other issues but that's exactly why I am sending my son to this school, the tests scores are high. Not sure how a high test scoring school can be labeled poor. As far as extracurricular activies, I have attended many, with lots of prior notice even before my son attended here. It's basically a neighborhood school so hard not to know what's going on at 19. The PTA works extremely hard to give our kids advantages. We have no regrets in changing schools.

I have 3 children 1 in 3rd grade and the other just graduated P.S.19and is in in High School. My youngest will be attending in sept oof 2009. I cannot say enough about this school. The Teachers are Great the Principal is Awesome. Mr. Sullivan used to be a science teacher in P.S. 19 then Vice Principal and now we are so lucky to have have him as our principal. The school has only 2 classes per grade K-8. we have a wonderful PTA and our test scores are well above average. Parents if you have the choice send your kids here

Test scores aside, I feel this is one of the worst schools and I am going to try to put my son in a different school next year. I may even have to move to a different school district in order for my son to receive a decent, well-rounded education. Unfortunately the scholl's focus on testing and achieving high scores has masked the fact that this is a poor school. Many parents are being deceived when they read these reviews. Every time there is a performance, recital, show or other activity that involves our children and should include our participation, the parents are either not given any notice of it or are given notice only a day in advance, making it almost impossible to see our childrens activities. Due to ridiculous overcrowding lack of sufficient planning, there is no library, art room, music room, gym, or playgound. Please be advised.

All three of my kids go here. The Principal, teachers, staff and parents are great!!

I am looking forward to another great year at PS 19. The teachers are fabulous and the families are involved. Excellent education.

This is an unbelievable school. Who would ever leave the city knowing about this school. It is a definate A+

I am very satisfied with the education and leadership at this school. I wish they had more space for extracurricular activities.

This school is great.close to private school. I literally cried when I moved and had to take my daughter out. Ms Braff, the kindergarden teacher and Ms Williams the 1st grd teacher are the best. My daughter has wonderful memories of them. So do i!
