Pennington School Reviews

Teacher's really worked well with my child. Mr. Constantinites was an excellent teacher. we will miss him!!!

The school is above average for Mt. Vernon. Unfortunately as word spread of its achievements within the city it has now become overcrowded. The K-8 pilot has resulted in even more overcrowding. On top of that the school taxes are very high in Mt. Vernon and unfortunately we do not get what we pay for relative to other municipalities' school districts. As a result of the poor middle school and high school achievement test results, overcrowding at Pennington and very high taxes I have decided to move and enroll my 2 children in another school district. It is unfortunate but a sad reality as we love the neighborhood but our children's education comes first.

Pennington and its educational community, from well-prepared teachers, a dedicated principal, an active PTA to the many involved parents, has provided so much to our children. By the numbers (test scores), Pennington Elementary School measures up, but it excels by providing a nurturing and challenging learning environment for students.

This school was a disappointment, on parental observation the staff was often insulting students. There are no signs of parental inclusion with discussing bullying of children that were singled out and labled by teachers. We hope they can overcome these reputations that we beleived could not be true but are regretful of our family's experience there.

I am a parent whose child attends this wonderful school so far. I especially like what the PTA does for the children. I try to make myself available if class parents need me and to assist the PTA. Parents have to realize the key to success is to get involved. Therefore, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Pennington. The After School Program is wonderfully organized and my son has a great time with the activities.

I am a parent of a child in kindergarten and a child in third grade. My children and I have had nothing the best of experiences at Pennington. The staff, parents and students are like one extended family. I am a very involved parent and anything that the PTA or parent wants to do in the school, has to be okayed by the principal. I am very happy with the principal, she is very compassionate when she needs to be and very fair in her disciplining. The children look up to her. I feel parent involvement is key to your children having a great experience. Pennington has a great music department and after school program. I feel it is a privilege for my children to be attending such a wonderful school.

I'm surprised by the review I recently read about Pennington School. The school is not run by the teachers and PTA,but by a wonderful principal who is very fair and will listen before making any decision. My child was a graduate and I found the staff and administration to be more than nurturing. She had a wonderful experience while at Pennington. Not only do they get a wonderful well rounded education, but are treated by the administration and staff as if it is their own child. Parents should make an effort to get involved in their child's education. The PTA After School Program is a continuation of the school day with a excellent variety of classes. Many graduates return to the school to visit and reminisce about their experiences at Pennington. If the school is not nurturing, how come everyone wants their child to attend?

Not very nurturing, If the student is a 'good student' they make through, but if they need 'that extra help' and nurturing they will fall through the cracks... The Principle is fairly new and lets the teachers and PTA dictate the running of the school, in order not to make waves. The teachers tend to be tenure and are not very interested in giving 'that extra' to student that really need it.
