Acad of Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School Reviews

I would have rated this school above average back in 2004 when my first child began. However, 2007 my second child entered and I was so dissappointed in the 4th grade. New teacher and new students all entered at that point and unfortunately ruined everything. It was a great school though and I cant complain because it has gotten our foot into an even better school. The schools reputuation precedes the child and they are well known. The campus is quaint and old fashioned just as I like them. Small classes are the secret weapon of this school. But I wish they were a little more selective if you are entering 3rd and up. Some bad habits after that are too hard to change and ruins a class that was together since Kindergarten and were reared and taught in a different fashion.

My children love their school. There is a solid sense of community and the teachers are dedicated and inspiring. I am, however, disappointed in the classrooms. Aside from the main building, the classrooms are ill-equip and small. The art room is literally held in a hallway, there is no formal music room, and the rooms that house the library and the computer lab are quite small. I am amazed that the teachers of the arts are able to do their jobs so proficiently despite their surroundings. The buildings are beautiful and full of history, but they are not suitable classrooms. Having said this, I will continue to send my children there and aside from the space issues, my children and I are proud to be a part of the GCA family.

My children have received a solid education this 2005/2006 school year. My wish is that the school taught Spanish instead of French, and that more of the teachers have more experience in the classroom. However, our overall experience has been good.

This school is the best ever! The teachers make laerning fun and I know because I went there. I stsrted when I was in Kindergarten and went through 8th grade. I loved every second of it and would do it again in a New York second!
