This egalitarian day school provides a truly diverse student body and many truly outstanding teachers. The administration works with us as parents and listens to our concerns (that didn't happen at all at our previous school). This is our family's fourth year at the school and we are as happy now with our choice as we were when we made the switch from another school. My children get a better education than their friends in some of the fanciest private schools in Greenwich and the surrounding area. And the kids and families are so much nicer! No mean girls here, no bullies. Small classes and a great teacher to student ratio means much more observation of the kids is going on and teachers really get to know the kids.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 5 2008-03-18 “WFHA is the best! My children are extremely different kids, yet they get what they need at this school thanks to dedicated professionals who are gifted teachers and administrators (a hard combination to find). A school's mission statement means nothing if it isn't implemented in the classroom. WFHA walks the talk. My husband and I have found the teachers are intelligent, caring, and open to a variety of teaching modalities that makes learning fun. The students are challenged and work hard, but they do so without complaining. If they need help they have been made comfortable enough to ask for it, and my children have received all the support and enrichment they want and need. The principal, who started 2 years ago, is a phenomenal leader/educator with a strong background in math and science. The school has been flourishing. Enrollment is over 100, yet classes remain small -10 - 18 kids per class with (for the elemenatary grades) two full-time, professional teachers/class (secular & Judaic ). I'v 2children in the school (3rd/K). My 3rd grader receives enrichment 4x/week. My kindergartener just started reading! They have extraordinary specialists as well -- dance, music, art and afterschool programs. There's a challenging science lab, strong emphasis on math, and push for excellence in writing, all in a warm/loving atmosphere where all the children & teachers know each. It's a Jewish day school that is different --Judaic&Secular studies are integrated and the teaching is progressive.
